Dan Truffini, Founder of DVM Profit Zone:
THE VETERINARY PROFESSION IS ONE CLOSE TO DAN. HIS JOURNEY STARTED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, 39 YEARS AGO, IN ITHACA, NY WHILE HIS FATHER, STANLEY, WAS GRADUATING AT THE TOP OF HIS CLASS FROM CORNELL UNIVERSITY VETERINARY SCHOOL. SOON AFTER, THE JOURNEY TOOK THE FAMILY TO BOSTON, AND AN INTERNSHIP AT THE RENOWNED ANGELL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.
The next stop was a move to Connecticut, where the family opened its first practice. With its humble beginnings on the first floor of their family home, Dan literally lived in a Veterinary Hospital until the practice relocated to a larger facility. Washing cats and dogs, scrubbing cages and floors, helping to hold animals, and shadowing his father as any young boy would, Dan watched his father and mother, the practice manager, build and grow a practice from scratch into a successful, well respected operation, with high client loyalty and steady growth each year. He is part of the Veterinary “family” and understands first-hand the nuances and unique qualities of this profession, and the mindset of both the Dr’s, staffs, their clients …… furry patients. Dan truly understands the mindset of the Veterinarian, and the unique attributes and qualities that drive them.
Growing up in and around a small business gave Dan the desire to engage in a successful career that rewarded him and his Fortune 500 clients with better sales, and more profitability. Now, at the expense of the large companies that have spent tens of millions figuring out how to attract clients, and earn more money, he has adapted many of those same pearls of wisdom with where it all started, and where he has always been most passionate, Veterinary Medicine.
Dan is also the editor-in-chief of YourPetwork, a new kind of organization and publication that connects Vets, Pets, and the People who care, for a totally un-affiliated, independent view of the fast changing landscape of Independent Veterinary Medicine.
In his strong opinion, these are the doctors and practices who deserve the most financial recognition for their talent, skills, passion, dedication out of any medical professional, yet garner the least. That changes today.....
